"Currently my art explores the theme of architecture as a symbol of power. The towers I draw appear infinitely tall. The appearance is inspired by the story of the tower of Babel in the book of Genesis. I combine male and female features in my tower designs. The male aspects are illustrated in the phallic shape of the towers and the aggressive drawing technique. Female qualities are visible in my use of pastel colors and the delicate appearance of the towers and their decoration. Irrationality is emphasised in my tower designs by using unnecessary decoration and bright colors. My art is inspired by indigenous South African flowers. Hundertwasser, Gaudi, Japanese prints, outsider art, religious architecture and Gustav Klimt are a few of my influences. These influences inspire me to design a building which is my own, unique fantasy creation. My sculptures range in size from 1.25m to 2m in length. My intention is to create an interesting tension between the spectator and the sculpture. The length of the towers are enphisised which are taller than the average person. My drawings are done on old pieces of wood which is reminiscent of outsider art."
