‘The studio is much bigger that I expected. I was used to a small work space and I felt rather lonely and lost in this space. So during the first weeks I placed my easel in the corner of the studio.’
Born in 1969, Tsietsi Progress Matubako was already a painter before he studied art and sculpture at Technikon Natal in 1990. He took up residency at the Thami Mnyele Foundation Studio in 1995. During his stay in Amsterdam, he painted curtain frills on a fence on the Frederik Hendrikstraat.
