Nella Ngingo: 'I want to get rid of the censorship we impose on ourselves'


Photographer Nella Ngingo (32) fled from the genocide in Burundi to the Netherlands as a child. The deaths in her family were never discussed. In Burundi she has to hide her queerness, in the Netherlands she is always confronted with her color. But in her work she determines what she shares. 'I want to get rid of the censorship we impose on ourselves.'
