Atef Berredjem

Atef Berredjem (b. 1982) graduated from the Algiers Fine Arts Academy in 2007. His artistic practice spans painting, assemblage, sculpture, photography, installation and performance. Berredjem Atef, tries to explore the various aspects that take societies in their perpetual change and Evolution, he focuses on his own society, in its social and cultural progression towards modernism. Berredjem is interested in the intermediate phases, stages of transitions in the development process of phenomena, practices and social habits, between tradition and globalization, regionalism and universality, interepreting a various aspects through aprecise thematics and concrets phenomena, considered as consequences of this socio-cultural evolution.
Atef Berredjem is selected by Hedwig Fijen, director Manifesta, and Thomas Peutz at the time Director of Smart Project Space. Atef will be our artist in residence till 11 december 2015 .
