Batoul Shimi

2007

Batoul Shimi (Maroc) places everyday objects like clothes or specimens central in her work. She uses these objects to address social and ethical questions. By situating the everyday in a different frame, she invites the viewer to step into her poetic world where the human measure is her starting point.

Batoul Shimi stayed at the Thami Mnyele studio in July 2008. By invitation of Liteside Festival, she developed a public space project. The project was presented at Liteside Festival on 23, 24, and 25 August 2008 in Amsterdam.
