In April, Thami Mnyele Foundation welcomes a new Thami Mnyele Residency Award winner Carine Mansan!


Carine Mansan Chowanek is selected on the occasion of the exhibition Memoria: Stories of Another History, curated by Nadine Hounkpatin and Celine Seror, that took place from April 7 to August 22, 2022 at the MuCAT (Museie des Cultures Contemporaines Adama Toungara), in Abidjan, Cote D'Ivoire.


Carine Mansan (born in 1988) is a painter and visual artist born in Abidjan. After high school, she left Cote d'Ivoire to study interior design in Paris, at the Cond school and in Montreal. It was after her university career  at the University of Montreal that she met Achilles Kouam. In contact with this professor of drawing and painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Montreal, the artist exhibited her work for the first time. Inspired by ancient traditions, the ideas of transmissions and sanctity, Carine Mansan questions of identity, feminism and the social through different visual language (sculpture and painting, abstraction and figurative). Her work is steeped in spirituality and ancient mystical traditions. Over the years, she has participated in numerous cultural events at other international venues. Her works are in reputable private collections around the world.
