2025-03-24 Ina van Zyl: in Rotterdam Art

Our fellow's Ina van Zyl's works will be presented in Rotterdam Art! She will be represented by Galerie Bernard Jordan from Paris, and will be shown in stand C14. Rotterdam art will take place in Ahoy arena from 27 to 30 March.

Ina Van Zyl's paintings can be seen as still lifes, reminding us of the brevity of life while celebrating the delicate curves of a leaf or the purplish hue of a vein beneath the skin's surface. Her work is a tribute to the beauty of life through the process of painting: Sexual organs, plants, flowers, body parts, close-up portraits, and everyday objects, such as fruit or a glass of water, have been part of Ina van Zyl's repertoire for several years. Often dark in color, as if a shadow had been cast on the canvas, or awash in acid greens or yellows, her paintings are shrouded in mystery, even disquiet. Each of these intimately formatted paintings can be seen as a detail, a significant fragment of a larger event that has captured the artist's imagination.
