Our fellow Jean Katambayi Mukendi is having a solo exhibition, KODE, at Wouters Gallery in Brussels, Belgium. The exhibition will open on 10 September, from 5pm to 8pm.

"Artificial Intelligence is everywhere these days, although everyone seems to have a different idea about what it is, what makes it artificial and why it is called intelligent. Where to draw the line? What is the magical marker between intelligent and outelligent, sentient and non-sentient, or no-sense (non-sense)? Is there an actual divide between digital and analogue, software and hardware, virtual and real, or is that separation an artificial and cunning creation with a specific intention, like the far-reaching and racist rupture in the 19th-century Western world between history and pre-history? Who draws the out-lines and the in-lines of the world? Who decided what time (it) is, and where? Jean Katambayi Mukendi is one of those rare artists who draws the line(s), countless lines actually, humonstruous amounts of lines, more than anyone can muster, except maybe for Jean himself. He draws lines that tie phenomena and histories together rather than separating and dividing them. He draws circles around pivotal inventions and technologies that are intrinsically connected to their material carriers, and re-counts geophysical origins with neocolonial politics. (...)"
