2026-09-11 | Zanele Muholi: Panel Talk at Soho House Amsterdam
Friday, September 11, at 8:00 PM, Soho House Amsterdam, Ron Mandos Gallery will host a special panel talk with our fellow, internationally acclaimed South African visual artist and activist Zanele Muholi.
Known for their powerful documentation and celebration of Black LGBTQIA+ lives, Muholi has presented major solo exhibitions at institutions including the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam (2017) and Tate Modern, London (2024).
The conversation will center on Muholi’s landmark project Faces and Phases, which marks its 20th anniversary this year. Muholi will be joined by Gabi Ngcobo, director of Kunstinstituut Melly, and performance artist, choreographer, and chair of Black Pride NL, Naomie Pieter, to discuss the importance of queer archival documentation.
The talk takes place on the eve of the opening of Muholi’s exhibition ‘Hlanganani’ at Galerie Ron Mandos, featuring 100 Faces and Phases portraits, including new portraits created in Amsterdam during WorldPride 2026.
